Una(HP), Feb. 15 -- People of Una district who travel to Hoshiarpur through Ghaluwal-Jhalera bridge are a worried lot as the 65-year-old bridge has developed serious cracks at different places raising questions about its safety. People are upset as the concerned department is not paying adequate attention to the continuously deteriorating condition of this important bridge which is a vital link connecting two states.
According to reports, this bridge over the Swan River between Jhalera and Ghaluwal was constructed in 1962. Over the past 63 years, the bridge has withstood numerous floods. It has been repaired from time to time, costing crores of rupees, but each time only temporary solutions have been provided.
