Bhubaneswar, July 10 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today urged the Centre to direct banks at the apex level to open brick-and-mortar branches in unbanked gram panchayats (GPs) across the state.
Speaking at the 27th meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council, Majhi emphasized the need for resolving internet connectivity issues at the GP level to encourage banks to establish physical branches.
He further recommended that commercial banks increase both the fixed and variable components of commission paid to Business Correspondents (BCs) to curb their attrition rate.
