Mumbai, Jan. 16 -- Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Harshwardhan Sapkal on Friday said that while the overall performance of the Congress in the municipal corporation elections may not be fully satisfactory, the party has emerged as a significant political force across the state, with mayors in five cities, around 350 corporators, and participation in power in nearly 10 urban local bodies.

Reacting to the civic poll results, Sapkal said the Congress fought the elections as an ideological battle, irrespective of victory or defeat.
