Nandurbar, March 17 -- Two people - a woman and a 10-year-old girl - died in separate leopard attacks in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district this weekend, officials said on Monday.

Both incidents took place in Taloda Taluka.

A 44-year-old woman farmer died in a leopard attack while working in the sugarcane field in Ganesh Budhawal village on Saturday.

The victim Lalitabai Ashok Padvi and her husband Ashok Padvi were filling water in the sugarcane field when the leopard attacked her.

Hearing Lalitabai's screams, her husband and others working in the field rushed and chased the leopard, which left the woman in the maize field and ran away.
