Mumbai, Feb. 17 -- The Maharashtra government has approved a massive surveillance expansion across the State Transport network, allocating Rs 1111 crore to install thousands of CCTV cameras in a bid to strengthen passenger safety.

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced on Tuesday that the project is part of a broader security overhaul aimed at protecting millions of daily commuters. The decision comes amid rising concerns over possible threats from anti-social elements and the growing need for systematic monitoring across transport infrastructure.
