Mumbai, Nov. 12 -- Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik has declared that leopards identified as man-eaters should be shot.

In a statement on Wednesday, the minister noted that authorities cannot remain passive observers while citizens endure growing terror from increasing leopard encounters, emphasising the government's responsibility to address public safety concerns.

This decisive stance comes following repeated attacks creating widespread fear in rural regions of Pune district, particularly Shirur and Ambegaon talukas.
