Chandrapur, Dec. 2 -- Polling in the Gadchandur Municipal Council elections was disrupted on Tuesday after a voter allegedly smashed an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) following a malfunction that reportedly registered a vote for a different symbol than the one selected, officials said.
According to polling officials, voting began peacefully at 7 a.m., though intermittent technical issues were reported at several booths, prompting brief suspensions before machines were restored.
The major incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. at Booth No. 2 of Adarsh Hindi Vidyalaya, where a voter identified as Ram Durge claimed the machine lit up the indicator for the "Lotus" symbol despite his pressing the button for the "Nagara" symbol.
