Washim, Sept. 21 -- More than six million acres of kharif crops across Maharashtra have been damaged due to incessant and excessive rains this season. The State Government is now considering declaring a wet drought once the criteria set by the Centre and the State are fulfilled.
State Agriculture Minister Dattatraya Bharane, who is also the Guardian Minister for Washim, assured reporters that affected farmers would receive financial relief before the Diwali festival. He personally inspected the damage during his tour of the district.
