Nagpur, Dec. 14 -- Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat prorogued both houses of the state legislature on Sunday, bringing an end to the one-week-long winter session.

The prorogation order was read out in the assembly by speaker Rahul Narwekar and in the council by chairperson Ram Shinde.

During the seven-day winter session in Nagpur, the Lower House functioned for 72 hours and 35 minutes, with a daily average of 10.22 hours, while only 10 minutes were wasted, Narwekar said.

Of the 18 bills tabled in the assembly, 16 were cleared, he added.

Assembly speaker Rahul Narwekar and council chairperson Ram Shinde said the next session of the legislature will begin in Mumbai on February 23 next year .
