Mumbai, Sept. 18 -- The Maharashtra government has issued a comprehensive order for cancelling invalid delayed birth and death registrations and retrieving certificates that were issued without proper authority.
The Public Health Department has announced a special three-month mission to address irregularities in birth-death registration processes across the state.
The order references the Birth and Death Registration Act 1969, Maharashtra Birth and Death Registration Rules 2000, a notification from the Law and Justice Department of the Government of India dated 11th August 2023, and a previous government decision dated 12th March 2025.
