Mumbai, March 25 -- The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Wednesday recorded a firm assurance from the Deputy Chief Minister (Housing) that the long-pending redevelopment of South Mumbai's Kamathipura area will now be treated as a priority, following concerns raised by MLA Amin Patel over unsafe living conditions and persistent delays in implementation.
Kamathipura, located in Mumbai City district, is characterised by a dense, multi-lingual, middle-class population residing in numerous old cessed buildings and chawls that have weakened structurally over time.
