Mumbai, Nov. 18 -- Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to participate in a nuclear power-based electricity generation initiative, marking a major step towards clean energy leadership, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis here on Tuesday.
In the presence of Chief Minister Fadnavis, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (Mahagenco) and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL) to collaborate on power generation through nuclear energy.
Speaking on the occasion, Fadnavis called the collaboration as a significant move towards clean and sustainable energy, and the Central government has begun involving states in the nuclear energy sector.
