Mumbai, Jan. 15 -- Around 40 to 50 per cent of the voters exercised their democratic rights as polling for 29 municipal corporations across Maharashtra, including the high-profile Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), ended peacefully on Thursday amid a charged political atmosphere.
Soon after the scheduled time of voting got over, the exit polls telecast over various major television channels predicted that the BJP-led Mahayuti, along with the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), could wrest control of the BMC, the country's richest municipal body, ending the nearly 25 years of uninterrupted control by the undivided Shiv Sena.
