Mumbai, Sept. 11 -- The Maharashtra government has commenced the process of reviewing six state Acts for decriminalisation, in alignment with the Central government's broader initiative to provide relief to citizens.

According to a government resolution, the state has identified six key Acts for review which contain penal provisions and prison terms for violations. These Acts include the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act 1960, Maharashtra Industrial Development Act 1961, Maharashtra Recognition of Trade Unions and Prevention of Unfair Labour Practices Act 1971, Maharashtra Stamp Act 1958, Bombay Industrial Relations Act 1946, and Maharashtra Land Revenue Code 1966.
