Mumbai, Sept. 23 -- The Maharashtra government has announced a relief package of Rs. 1339.49 crore for farmers affected by excess rainfall.
Since June, widespread heavy rains and floods have caused severe damage to farmers across Maharashtra.
To provide relief, the Department of Relief and Rehabilitation has issued a government resolution in this regard.
The state has been witnessing incessant rainfall for the past three months, with unusually heavy downpours even in traditionally low-rainfall areas.
The Vidarbha and Marathwada regions have suffered the most damage. Around 70 lakh acres of farmland in the state have been affected by the excessive rains.
