Kolhapur, Sept. 22 -- Eleven-day long Navratra festival began today with 'Ghatsthapna' (installation of God's idol) at Karveer Nivasini Goddess Shree Mahalaxmi temple, known as 'Ambabai', in an enthusiastic festivity today.

'Shree Pujak' Madhav Munishwar and main 'Purohit' Kiran Latkar performed an Abhishek on the idol of Mahalaxmi, followed by Western Maharashtra Devsthan Committee (WMDC) secretary Shivraj Naikwadi, who performed 'puja' and then 'Ghatsthapna' ritual and 'Alankaric' (figurative) 'puja' to mark the ten-days Navratra festival.

An allegorical 'puja' of Goddess will be performed every day based on 'Karveer Mahatm Granth' to apprise the importance, which will also be available on LED screens at nine different places.
