Mumbai, March 18 -- Maharashtra will launch a special scheme, 'Chief Minister MahaFund for Entrepreneurship and Innovation,' from April 1 to promote self-employment and innovation among youth.

Announcing this in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that around 5 lakh young people will receive skill training along with direct financial assistance under the initiative.

The announcement came during a discussion on rising unemployment, raised by MLAs Vikrant Patil, Prasad Lad, and Uma Khapre.
