New Delhi, Dec. 18 -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted regular bail to the petitioner Asim Das, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in the Mahadev online betting case.
Das was taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA) in connection with the alleged recovery of Rs 6.50 crore, purportedly meant for delivery to former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
A Bench comprising Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma noted that the petitioner had remained in custody for more than two years and that charges were yet to be framed in the case. The matter arises out of an ED probe into the alleged Mahadev online betting and gambling racket.
