Nashik, March 7 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Mumbai has arrested three individuals, including two senior GST officials, for demanding a bribe of Rs 1.25 crore to expedite an investigation of a GST operation in Nashik.
The arrests were made while the accused were accepting the first installment of Rs 20 lakh at the Goods and Services Tax office in Pathardi Phata, throwing the department's operations into a chaos.
The accused include Somnath Dattu Page, 47, state GST Deputy Commissioner, Machhindra Vitthal Donde, 55, Assistant State Tax Commissioner and Amit Hiraman Jadhav, 36, a private individual.
