Mumbai, June 4 -- Three people were arrested by BKC police station on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in a fake gold scam, where a man was duped of Rs two lakh.

The accused allegedly created a bogus Instagram account offering imported gold at discounted rates and lured unsuspecting buyers with the promise of profitable deals, officials said here.

The accused were arrested near CST Road in Kalina, Santacruz East, after police laid a trap based on specific inputs.

A case was registered at BKC police station under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, police used technical surveillance and local sources to track the suspects.
