Aurangabad, Oct. 10 -- At least six people drowned when a boat capsized in the Sone River under the Barun police station area of Maharashtra's Aurangabad district today.
District Magistrate Shrikant Shastri said here that the body of one person has so far been recovered, while the search for the remaining five is still underway.
He said the boat ferrying around 15 people from Barun to Son Dilla for agricultural work overturned due to the strong current of the river. All 15 passengers fell into the river. Of them, nine managed to swim to safety, while six drowned.
The body of one young woman has been recovered, and search operations for the remaining five are being carried out by NDRF and SDRF teams.
