Pune, May 2 -- During the hearing of the defamation case filed against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, complainant Satyaki Savarkar recently admitted before a special MP/MLA court here that freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was named as an accused in the Mahatma Gandhi assassination case, but was later acquitted.

The hearing is being conducted before Special Judge Amol Shriram Shinde. During cross-examination, Rahul Gandhi's lawyer Advocate Milind Dattatray Pawar questioned Satyaki Savarkar on several historical and ideological issues linked to Savarkar.

Satyaki Savarkar also acknowledged that Vinayak Savarkar had submitted mercy petitions to the British government five times during his imprisonment. Questions were ...
