Latur, Oct. 3 -- Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Rohit Pawar today met the family of a small farmer who recently died by suicide in Thodga village of Ahmedpur taluka, Latur district.
The deceased was identified as Bhaskar Rao Saheb Tarde. He had reportedly taken the extreme step due to heavy debts and the severe impact of incessant rains on his crops.
Pawar was in Ahmedpur taluka to assess crop losses. He interacted directly with affected farmers and inspected fields where soybean and other crops had been extensively damaged by the recent downpours.
While consoling the bereaved family, Pawar urged farmers not to lose hope despite the crisis.
