Mumbai, April 26 -- A surge in Alphonso Mango arrivals at Mumbai's APMC Market has led to a drop in prices, offering relief to buyers.
According to the details, the daily arrivals have jumped to around 70,000 boxes. The market is getting mangoes from Konkan districts like Ratnagiri, Devgad, Sindhudurg, and Raigad, plus large volumes from Karnataka and other states.
Following the glut, crate prices have fallen. A box of Alphonso mangoes that was earlier sold between Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 is now being sold at Rs 1,500-Rs 3,000 per box. Each box typically contains five to eight dozen mangoes, bringing the effective wholesale rate to roughly Rs 190 to Rs 600 per dozen, depending on quality and size.
