Kolhapur, Feb. 25 -- The district and sessions court here on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to a man who kidnapped and then murdered a minor boy at Savarde-Budruk in Kagal tehsil of the district on August 16, 2021.
According to public prosecutor Vivek Shukla, accused Dattatray alias Maruti Tukaram Vaidya (46), resident of Sonali in Kagal tehsil, kidnapped a seven-year-old boy Varad Ravindra Patil from his residence while a family function was on. Later, accused Vaidya murdered the boy and hid his body in bushes.
Relying on witnesses' account and arguments of lawyer, Judge Ms K B Agarwal convicted accused Vaidya under Sections 364, 302 and 201 of Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to imprisonment for life.
