Kolhapur, Oct. 26 -- Suspended Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Gopal Badane, the main suspect accused in a senior woman doctor's suicide case, surrendered before Phaltan police station last midnight.
Police detained Badane for an hour of initial investigation after his surrender. As he was being shifted for medical examination at the district hospital, Badane's reaction was captured by the media: "I am being held for no reason," he said, simultaneously folding his hands in front of the cameras before getting into the vehicle.
The deceased woman doctor had left a suicide note written on her palm. In the note, she alleged that PSI Badane had raped her four times and that a second suspect, Prashant Bankar, had mentally tortured her.
