Mumbai, March 3 -- On first day of the budget session of Maharashtra Assembly on Monday, noisy scenes were seen in the Legislative Council between Leader of the Opposition Ambadas Danve and the members of the ruling party over the government's stance on state Agriculture minister Manikrao Kokate.
Notably, Kokate and his brother Vijay Kokate were recently sentenced to two years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 each for cheating the Maharashtra government by fraudulently acquiring flats for low-income groups from government quota by submitting forged documents.
Amidst a big uproar in the upper house, Danve demanded Kokate's resignation and also demanded that the government should make its stand clear on the Kokate case.
