Satara, Jan. 10 -- The Koyna Dam in the district has been renamed as 'Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Koyna Jalsagar', in pursuant of a popular demand.
This historic decision has created a sense of satisfaction and pride among residents of the Koyna area and Patan taluka of the district. The name change has been done keeping in mind the long pending demand of last 10 years.
Taking a serious note of the long pending demand renaming the dam after Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Koyana Jalsagar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Water Resources minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil had organised a meeting of the Water Resources Department on 16 April 2025.
