Beed, Oct. 22 -- Farmers affiliated with the Kisan Sabha today staged a major protest in Parli, Beed district, demanding the immediate establishment of a government-operated purchase centre for cotton and soybean and a complete waiver of outstanding agricultural loans. The agitation coincided with the occasion of Bali Pratipada.

The protest underscored the challenges faced by cultivators across Beed district following the recent spell of heavy rainfall.
