Kolhapur, June 9 -- Film and theatre director 'Padmashri' Jabbar Patel has been selected for this year's prestigious 'Rajarshi Shahu Puraskar' on behalf of Shree Shahu Chhatrapati Memorial Trust (SSCMT).
Talking to reporters here on Monday, Amol Yedge, district collector and SSCMT president, announced this award.
The nature of this award is cash purse of Rs one lakh, a citation and a plaque.
Yedge said that Patel has been selected for the award considering his contribution to Marathi film industry and theatre over last 50 years as director and producer.
Patel has directed many popular Marathi films like 'Saamna', 'Sinhansan', 'Ek Hota Vidushak' and plays like 'Ashi Pakhare Yeti' and 'Ghashiram Kotval'.
