Mumbai, May 15 -- In a digital strike on bogus ration card holders, the Maharashtra government has cancelled 18 lakh ration cards so far in the state, officials said on Thursday.
The government is currently implementing ration card e-KYC campaign across the state, which has dealt a big blow to lakhs of people who are hoarding government food grains.
The names of high-paid government employees, businessmen and rich people are being cancelled due to this campaign.
Many government officials, employees, teachers, high salaried employees in various private companies, businessmen also have ration cards. On the basis of that, they collect food grains every month and sell these grains to various home industries and poultry farms and other places...
