Mumbai, June 1 -- Dismissed Beed police sub-inspector Ranjit Kasle who had claimed that he was offered a contract to eliminate Walmik Karad, key accused in the Maharashtra's Beed district sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case, was arrested by the Crime Branch of Mumbai police from Delhi, official sources said here on Sunday.

Kalase was arrested on charges of allegedly spreading communal hatred, defaming public officials and disseminating obscene content through social media.

The accused has been misusing social media to spread misinformation and incite hatred among communities.

He was produced in the court, where the court sent him to the custody of the Mumbai Crime Branch for two days, sources added. UNI AAA SS
