Mumbai, April 30 -- A special court here has rejected an accused's plea of guilt in the Pune's Jangli Maharaj (JM) road bomb blast case, observing that the person's decision to plead guilty due to being imprisoned for 12 years does not appear to be voluntary.

The court in its recent order also said that the plea of being guilty appears to be tainted by his intention to seek lesser punishment and is also inspired by his long incarceration and in view of the seriousness of the offence, the plea of guilty raised by the accused, Imran Khan, cannot be accepted.

Earlier, another accused Firoz Sayyed, who died on April seven last year in the government-run J J Hospital while in judicial custody, had made a similar plea, 10 years after his arrest...
