Mumbai, March 22 -- A special NDPS court discharged two alleged drug mafia members, Kailash Rajput and Ali Azghar Shirazi, for their involvement in connection with the case probed by the Anti-Extortion Cell for smuggling narcotic substances and banned medicines to Australia and the United Kingdom using a courier service, a lawyer said on Saturday.
The detailed order, which was not made available, but according to the operative part, both of them were discharged by the court for lack of evidence.
Shirazi was arrested in May 2023 from the airport while he was allegedly trying to escape to Dubai. He has been in prison since his arrest. The court, after two years, has discharged him.
