Gadchiroli, Oct. 25 -- A 17-year-old boy died and another sustained injuries after being struck by lightning in Kesaldabari village, Korchi taluka, in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Sargam Somnath Korcha (17), a Class 10 student. The injured victim was Yogesh Ghawle (17), from neighbouring Gondia district.
The incident occurred around 1:30 pm when Sargam and Yogesh were working in a paddy field owned by Sargam's father. As heavy rain and thunder began, the duo attempted to cover harvested paddy sheaves with thatch before taking shelter under a Mahua tree.
