Mumbai, Jan. 27 -- Mohammed Tausif Riyaz alias John Carter, the CEO of Platinum Hern Pvt Ltd and absconding accused in the multi-crore Torres Ponzi scheme, was arrested from a hotel in Lonavala by a team of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police, which is probing the case, an official said here on Monday.
Riyaz is the fifth accused arrested in the case. He was later produced before a court in Mumbai, which remanded him to police custody until February three.
Police had issued a lookout circular (LOC) against him. He had been on the run since the matter came to light and had travelled from Patna to Mumbai. Police apprehended him based on a tip-off about his location.
