Gadchiroli, May 12 -- Police have registered a case against 17 people, including directors and secretary of a procurement centre at Deulgaon in the district in connection with an alleged scam involving 10,000 quintals paddy.
Of them, five people were arrested so far including procurement centre (Maha Mandal) president Patiram Kokode, vice president Pandhari Dadgaye, and board members Bhaurao Kawadkar, Nusaram Kokode and Bhimrao Shende.
However, the main accused in the scam, Deputy Regional manager Muralidhar Bavane and the Centre manager Mahendra Meshram, are still absconding, police said on Monday.
