Nagpur, Dec. 7 -- Nagpur Police today launched "AI Nirikshak", Maharashtra's first AI-powered crowd management system, ahead of the Winter Assembly session 2025.
The initiative aims to enhance public safety and prevent incidents such as stampedes and terror threats.
The system, a joint effort by Nagpur Police, a local technology firm and Microsoft, integrates real-time data from CCTV cameras, drones, mobile surveillance units and road checkpoints.
It uses AI models built with TensorFlow and PyTorch for predictive crowd monitoring and threat detection.
"AI Nirikshak" features crowd density mapping, predictive surge alerts, detection of abnormal behaviour, unattended objects, sharp weapons and restricted zone violations.
