Nagpur, Dec. 7 -- : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday accused the Opposition of lacking direction and clarified that the authority to appoint Leaders of the Opposition (LoPs) in both the Assembly and the Council lies solely with the respective presiding officers.

The state government has no involvement in the matter, he said, while addressing a press conference on the eve of the Winter Session of the state legislature.

Fadnavis added that whatever decision the presiding officers of both the Houses take, will be fully accepted by his government.

Earlier in the day, the Opposition boycotted the customary pre-session tea party hosted by the government, alleging failure to appoint LoPs in both Houses.
