Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 15 -- Maha Shivaratri is being observed with deep devotion and spiritual fervour across Kerala as thousands of devotees thronged Shiva temples and riverbanks to offer prayers and perform the sacred 'Bali Tharpanam' ritual for their departed ancestors.

The banks of the Periyar River at the Aluva Shiva Temple in Ernakulam district witnessed an overwhelming turnout of devotees who gathered from the early hours of the day to perform 'Bali Tharpanam' as part of the Shivaratri observances.
