Mumbai, June 1 -- After nearly 24 years on the run, a murder case accused has been arrested from Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh by Maharashtra police, an official said on Sunday. The accused Sahu Diwakar Doshi was working as a rickshaw driver under a pseudonym.

The officials of Crime Branch Unit-2 of the neighbouring Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate, made the arrest, which sheds light on a 2001 murder case that stemmed from a dispute over rickshaw fare.

An FIR was lodged on October 14, 2001, at the Virar Police Station under IPC Section 302.
