Nagpur, Sept. 24 -- Maharashtra's Language Advisory Committee has urged the state government to scrap the Narendra Jadhav panel set up to decide on the implementation of the three-language policy in schools.
"The 29-member committee, comprising academics and writers, met in Nagpur yesterday and unanimously passed a resolution seeking withdrawal of the panel", said writer LaxmikantDeshmukh, who heads the state language body.
Deshmukh said while Jadhav is a respected economist, he is neither a language expert nor a child psychologist. "The language policy should have been referred to us, as we are the government-appointed body. If the decision to make Hindi compulsory was already scrapped, what was the need for the Jadhav panel?" he asked....
