Mumbai, July 2 -- Opposition parties in Maharashtra today twice staged a walk-out over the issues of farmer suicides and non-payment to soybean cultivators whose crop was procured by government agencies.

The session was marked by intense exchanges as the Opposition accused the government of irregularities in the procurement process and delays in payments to farmers.

While moving the adjournment motion seeking a discussion on the issue, Congress member Vijay Wadettiwar said that more than 700 farmers have ended their lives in the state in the first three months of the year, and also asserted that soyabean producers have not received payment for their sold crops.
