Nashik, Oct. 13 -- Maharashtra Minister for Food and Drug Administration Narhari Zirwal today asserted that public awareness and citizen participation are essential for the effective implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), which regulates the quality, production, and sale of food.

The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the 'San Maharashtracha, Sankalp Anna Surakshatecha' public awareness workshop, organised jointly by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Maharashtra and the Nashik Industries and Manufacturers Association (NIMA) at the NIMA House.
