Chennai, Aug. 17 -- The BJP-led Government on Sunday sprang a surprise by
nominating Maharashtra Governor C P Radhkrishnan, a RSS Prachark and senior
BJP leader, as the Vice-Presidential candidate from Tamil Nadu.
BJP sources told UNI that it was a honour for the State as he was the second
leader to get nominated to the second highest post in the country, after former
President APJ Abdul Kalam.
"It's a great honour for TN", BJP leaders said, adding, he was the National Executive
Member of the BJP till recently and he was one of the most respected and senior most
leaders of BJP from South India, and is often called the "Modi of Tamil Nadu".
