Nashik, Aug. 25 -- The Maharashtra government has issued an order waiving permission fees charged by municipal corporations on pavilions and other structures erected by Ganesh Mandals during Ganeshotsav.

The festival begins across the state from August 27.

Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan has written to the Nashik Municipal Corporation administration in this regard. The decision follows repeated requests from Ganesh Mandals.

"Since Ganeshotsav is a festival of public sentiment, instructions have been given to cancel the permission fee for pavilions and stages to provide financial relief to citizens," the order states.
