Mumbai, Aug. 1 -- The Maharashtra government will provide protection by providing insurance cover for 1.5 lakh Govindas in the state.
During Gokulashtami, human pyramids of 10-12 tiers (or even more) are formed for the Dahi Handi festival. Many participants (Govindas) get injured or disabled after falling during these events, and their treatment requires significant expenses.
The state government has decided to bear this cost by providing insurance coverage. Around 1.5 lakh Govindas in the state will be insured.
