Mumbai, Aug. 5 -- The Maharashtra government has suspended the 'Anandacha Shidha' (Festival Ration Kit) scheme this year, citing financial constraints. This scheme was launched to help the underprivileged celebrate festivals with joy.
Additionally, significant budget cuts have been made to the popular 'Shiv Bhojan Thali' scheme.
These developments signal that other welfare initiatives may also face setbacks due to the ongoing strain on the state treasury.
The 'Anandacha Shidha' scheme was designed to provide essential food items (1 kg dal, 1 kg sugar, and 1 litre of oil) for just Rs 100 to families living below the poverty line during major festivals such as Dussehra, Diwali, Ganeshotsav, Ambedkar Jayanti, and Shiv Jayanti.
