Mumbai, July 29 -- The Maharashtra government has imposed strict restrictions on the use of social media by government officials and employees.

While social media has become an essential tool in today's times, the government has taken this step to prevent its misuse.

As per the new directive, government employees and officials are prohibited from making negative comments about government policies, schemes, political events, or public figures through social media. Any violation will lead to disciplinary action under the Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1979.
