Mumbai, March 21 -- The Maharashtra government has once again extended the deadline for installing High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles registered before April 1, 2019.
The state Transport Department had originally set for March 31, this year, and later pushed to April 30. The deadline has now been further extended to June 30, due to slow implementation.
A large number of older vehicles are yet to comply with the regulation, prompting the Transport Department to intensify awareness campaigns, and therefore extend the deadline for another time.
The Maharashtra transport commissioner has urged vehicle owners to install HSRPs before the deadline to avoid penalties.
